About TEDD

TEDD in Broadband

Established in 1969, TEDD is a federally designated Economic Development District of the U.S. Department of Commerce whose primary focus is to promote economic vitality and opportunity in our communities. We work with local businesses, communities, and other organizations in Ferry, Pend Oreille, and Stevens counties to help develop a stable and diverse economy.

Today's cornerstone of economic development lies in access to top-notch, dependable, and cost-effective Internet services.

We have set up this portal to serve as an information clearinghouse, providing valuable insights and resources to our community about the internet services available to them. Additionally, it serves as a dynamic platform for collecting feedback from community members to steer the course for local and regional infrastructure development efforts.

Broadband Grant Awards

In 2023, TEDD was awarded $12,000,000 to expand infrastructure to support high-quality broadband in Stevens County by developing a hybrid fiber/wireless network. The project will connect more than 1,765 homes to fiber optic lines capable of speeds of 1000/1000mbps, and the wireless system will support service speeds of at least 150/150mbps. This project is slated to break ground at the end of 2024. Search your address in the portal to see if your home or business is within the project's service area.

If you're not in the funded zone, don't worry - we're not done yet - and YOU can help! The TEDD team is continuously evaluating grant opportunities we can apply for to expand more of this critical infrastructure in our community. The best way to support these efforts is to fill out our survey on the HOME page - enter your address to get started. Areas with a documented high need and lots of community support are prioritized for future grant opportunities.
